Andrew Cartmel and Ben Aaronovitch Return to Write Seventh Doctor Comic!

In June, the Seventh Doctor and Ace are back for a three-part adventure for Titan Comics – and it’s written by Doctor Who Script Editor, Andrew Cartmel, and Battlefield‘s Ben Aaronovitch!
The miniseries begins in June 2018 with a double-sized first issue, and is expected to conclude in August.
The comic will see an unknown alien intelligence in orbit around the Earth. Astronauts are under attack. There’s a terrifying, mysterious landing in the Australian interior. The future of the world itself at stake. Counter Measures is activated. The Seventh Doctor and Ace are slap bang in the middle of it all! This is OPERATION VOLCANO!
Counter Measures is, of course, a UNIT-esque military strikeforce introduced in Aaronovitch’s Remembrance of the Daleks 30 years ago, in October 1988; the team has since returned for numerous audio adventures for Big Finish.
Cartmel served as Script Editor throughout the Seventh Doctor era, and was responsible for writing out Bonnie Langford’s Mel Bush and introducing Sophie Aldred as Ace in Dragonfire. We might best know Aaronovitch for his two Doctor Who TV serials, but he’s since become a best-selling novellist with his Rivers of London series – indeed, he and Cartmel have worked together on a spin-off comic book set in the same world as his books. For the Seventh Doctor comic, they’ll be joined by illustrator Christopher Jones (The Third Doctor comic) and colorist Marco Lesko (The Ninth Doctor).
There will also be a back-up strip, written by Twelfth Doctor scribe, Richard Dinnick, with art by Jessica Martin – yes, that Jessica Martin, who played Mags in The Greatest Show in the Galaxy!
The debut issue comes with four variant covers to collect: three art covers by artists, Alice X. Zhang, Simon Myers, and Christopher Jones, plus a photo cover by Will Brooks.

Titan Comics’ Seventh Doctor comic will hit shelves in June 2018, and will retail at $3.99 per issue.
