Yes, it is still Friday. Just about. In the UK at any rate. So #FollowFriday, our weekly chance to point you in the direction of Doctor Who folk on Twitter, is still applicable.
And as it’s Doctor Who Magazine Week at the DWC, it would be a little too obvious to tell you to follow @DWMTweets – and anyway, if you’re a Doctor Who fan with a Twitter account, you already follow DWM don’t you? Instead, we’re dedicating this week’s #FF to Dez Skinn.
Dez is the very first editor of DWM, in charge of the weekly tome until issue #22 in 1980. He acquired the BBC license for the magazine, but importantly kept it free from the corporation’s input – that means it still gets all the latest news, but can report of the show’s failings as well as its successes. He’s also contributed to the fanzine of DWM, Vworp Vworp, edited by Gareth Kavanagh (a friend of the DWC’s. We’re expecting #3 later this year…).
But his influence extends far beyond Doctor Who: in fact, he’s one of the most important movers-and-shakers in British comics. Prior to founding DWM, Skinn worked at Marvel UK and also created Starburst, the sci-fi monthly magazine that’s still going to this day.
He only joined Twitter in November 2015, so there’s not a great wealth of tweets as yet, but still more than enough to keep Doctor Who fans entertained.
Weird to see Gallifreyan president Donald Sumpter in the Co-op today and squeeze past him for pasta. Nice that Time Lords shop local though.

Disappointed by Doctor Who X-Mas special. But Moff saved by excellent new Sherlock. Nice resolution without being quite so geek-indulgent.

Anyone who loves cult TV, film, and comics should also give Dez a follow.
Brilliant poster for Cabinet of Dr Caligari (1920). Vertigo's SANDMAN inspiration mayhap? pic.twitter.com/XLB7h5dCEE

Maybe Marvel's JESSICA JONES should change her phone company. They can't even spell UNKNOWN properly. (ep 11, 26:43) pic.twitter.com/IN8pgGYXMw

Nice that two 1977-launched SF titles are still going strong after all these years! pic.twitter.com/UDs9PABXTx
