Merry Christmas, Doctor Who fans! This year, we had an extra special gift — a new episode of Doctor Who on Christmas Day, the first since 2017, subsequent festive specials being bumped over to New Year’s Day instead.

And of course, we’ve now properly got to know the Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, who debuted in The Giggle, but spent the time in his pants; this Christmas, the Doctor got a new wardrobe, so that’s a turn-up for the books. We’ve also met new companion, Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson), whose name is so similar to Ruby Tuesday, you will find the DWC accidentally calling her that one of these days. The number of edits to my own work that I’ve already made…

So in The Church on Ruby Road, we began to explore the mystery of Ruby Sunday as she and the Doctor took on child-eating Goblins!

So we’ve now only got one Doctor Who 60th anniversary special left, so the bells are tolling already for the Fourteenth Doctor. What’s in store for David Tennant’s second — no, third (if we’re taking the Metacrisis Doctor into account) — incarnation of the Doctor? And for his beloved companion, Donna Noble?

Well, before that, the TARDIS reacted badly to a coffee spillage, and Donna and the Doctor found themselves not visiting Wilfred Mott (Bernard Cribbins), but instead venturing into the Wild Blue Yonder.

Happy 60th anniversary to Doctor Who!

The franchise has begun its celebrations of 60 years with The Star Beast an adaptation of a Doctor Who Magazine comic strip, this time with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor, plus Catherine Tate and Jacqueline King returning as Donna and Sylvia Noble respectively. The special also stars Yasmin Finney as Donna’s daughter, Rose, and kicks off a trilogy of episodes with Tennant and Tate.

Oh, and there was a marvellously murderous Meep involved too.
