The Doctor leant back from the table, immensely satisfied. He had been regaling the Noble family with tales of his adventures for a full seven hours and the afternoon sun was now low in the summer sky. The Doctor was pleased to see that Donna, no doubt to limit the interference from extraneous stimuli and listen more fully, was resting her head on her hands and staring fixedly at the tablecloth. Sylvia – surely aware of alcohol as a sauce to any good story – had started on her sixth glass of wine, while Shaun, surely moved into inarticulacy by the Doctor’s tale, had his eyes closed and was breathing regularly and deeply. Poor Rose had retired to her room, pleading a headache, and Mel had gone to search for paracetamol. Strangely, this simple task had taken her over an hour. The Doctor jumped up and suggested a game: how would they all like a quiz about his adventures?

The Noble clan was immediately enthusiastic: they urged the Doctor to go into the TARDIS and make a start at once. They impressed upon him the need to take his time: if three or four hours’ writing and researching the quiz were required, then three or four hours it should be. Wouldn’t they miss him? the Doctor asked, concerned. The Nobles earnestly assured him that he shouldn’t give that another thought: he must set about his task at once. Emboldened, encouraged and pleased, the Doctor went into the TARDIS and did just that.

The space time continuum thrashes and convulses around us every day, in ways we cannot possibly understand. The Time Lords have noted that these convulsions, for some reason, are particularly frenetic at Christmas and the flotsam and jetsam of space-time can even be thrown out into our temporal universe.

It’s the second edition of the Doctor Who Companion‘s exclusive “Who Knows” quiz, and we’re focussing on number twos. Oh, we’re certainly not above toilet humour here at the DWC; fortunately, not everything in today’s quiz revels in crude gags – largely because Doctor Who rarely centers around the loos. So we’ve shoved in some twos that aren’t related to waste. I know, we’re a big disappointment.

(The inclusion of The Beast Below as the featured image is purely because it’s the Eleventh Doctor’s second story, and yes, they are covered in sick – it’s by no means a comment on the quality of the story. In fact, I love The Beast Below, as DWC regular will likely attest.)

Following the success of the lockdown Doctor Who quizzes, we’ve decided to regularly test your knowledge of everyone’s favourite sci-fi show. Because who doesn’t love a quiz?! (Rhetorical question, assembled readers.)

Our very first “Who Knows” quiz – and thank you to Thomas Spychalski for the name! – is a bumper edition, all focused on “firsts”. Every question relates somehow to a “first” in Doctor Who, but you don’t have to know everything about the First Doctor to take part. This quiz covers every era of Doctor Who. There are questions for beginners, learners, and experts. Some are seriously hard, and if you get 100%, you can class yourself as a super-fan. Until next time, when your knowledge of all time and space, everything that ever happened or every will, will be tested again!
