This year’s Children in Need charity appeal show will feature a brand new scene with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor.
Importantly, as the charity show will be screened on Friday 17th November 2023, this will be the first scene with the Fourteenth Doctor after the Thirteenth Doctor’s (Jodie Whittaker) regeneration at the conclusion of The Power of the Doctor last October. Children in Need will take place just over a week before the first 60th anniversary special, The Star Beast, screens on BBC1 and is available for streaming on Disney+ on 25th November (two days after the show’s actual 60th anniversary).
Of course, the Doctor Who Magazine comic strip, Liberation of the Daleks, is a direct follow-on from The Power of the Doctor, further bridging the gap between the end of the last era and this new one that begins later this month.
The charity appeal show will be presented by Alex Scott MBE, Ade Adepitan MBE, Mel Giedroyc, Jason Manford, and Chris Ramsey — as well as Lenny Rush, who will guest star in an upcoming episode of Doctor Who Series 14!
We don’t actually know anything more about the Children in Need scene; not even whether it’ll be in character or will be a sketch, though we have every reason to believe it will be in-canon, as per previous Children in Need specials like Time Crash (2007) and The Great Detective (2012).
Children in Need airs on 17th November 2023.
