Covers Revealed for the Target Novelisations of Doctor Who’s 60th Anniversary Specials

The covers for the three upcoming Target novelisations of the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials have been released, and though they don’t spoil anything from the plots or tell us too much about what each Fourteenth Doctor adventures has in store for us, they are nonetheless gorgeous.

These covers have original art by Anthony Dry, who uses the pointillism technique to evoke the work of Chris Achilleos.

The three books are The Star Beast by Gary RussellWild Blue Yonder by Mark Morris, and The Giggle by James Goss, all based on scripts by Russell T Davies. The first sees the TV debut of comic strip favourite, Beep the Meep, while the latter features Neil Patrick Harris as the Toymaker, a character previously played by Michael Gough in the First Doctor serial, The Celestial Toymaker.

The specials air in late November, into December, so it’s pretty amazing that we’re getting novelisations of the trio as early as 11th January 2024!

Launched in 1973, Target Books published novelisations of almost every Doctor Who serial aired between 1963 and 1989; BBC Books started to release all-new novelisations of 21st Century Doctor Who episodes in 2018, including The Waters of Mars, The Witchfinders, and Eaters of Light, as well as the 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor.

You can pre-order The Star Beast by Gary RussellWild Blue Yonder by Mark Morris, and The Giggle by James Goss now!
