Fifth Doctor actor, Peter Davison, has confirmed that he’s not involved at all in the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials.

He said:

“No. I have no involvement in the 60th anniversary episodes, but of course, the more you deny it the more people say you are in it!

“There’s no specific BBC-organised celebration or event. If there is, I haven’t been invited! As for on-screen involvement, I am not in it.”

Yes, that’s right: Peter Davison is in the 60th anniversary!

Joking, joking…

Davison was last seen in The Power of the Doctor, Jodie Whittaker’s last episode as the Thirteenth Doctor, which… is also the most recent episode of Doctor Who. The next episode is The Star Beast, due to air next month as part of the franchise’s celebrations of 60 years on screen. So yes, it’s probably a little too soon to expect the Fifth Doctor to show up again, but it is a big anniversary and he was there for the 50th anniversary…

Oh, and Davison’s son-in-law, David Tennant, is returning for the 60th, this time playing the Fourteenth Doctor alongside Catherine Tate as Donna Noble.

Still, with the return of the Celestial Toymaker, and an appearance from Beep the Meep and the Wrarth Warriors, both from the Doctor Who Magazine strip, the three specials should be a fitting tribute to all that’s come before while also pointing the way to the future (because we’ve already seen Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor in previews!).

Or maybe Peter’s lying and he’ll be in the 60th anniversary episodes. Not long until we find out…
