Following the popularity of last year’s Illustrated Edition of Doctor Who and the Daleks, BBC Books is set to release a follow-up version of Rose, the first story of Doctor Who‘s 21st Century revival.
The story was novelised by Russell T Davies back in 2018, and while this edition republishes the whole narrative, it comes with brand new illustrations by acclaimed artist, Robert Hack.
BBC Books boasts that this title celebrates not only the show’s 60th anniversary but also Davies’ return as showrunner — suitably, this is released on 23rd November (the actual anniversary date, and the month during which three new episodes are expected to air).
Davies has teased that Clive’s shed is especially beautiful; we presume it includes lots of Easter eggs to Doctors and adventures, both from the past and awaiting us in the future. We bet Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor is in there somewhere at least…
Here’s the blurb:
‘Nice to meet you, Rose. Run for your life!’
In a lair somewhere beneath central London, a malevolent alien intelligence is plotting the end of humanity. Shop window dummies that can move – and kill – are taking up key positions, ready to strike.
Rose Tyler, an ordinary Londoner, is working her shift in a department store, unaware that this is the most important day of her life. She’s about to meet the only man who understands the true nature of the threat facing Earth, a stranger who will open her eyes to all the wonder and terror of the universe – a traveller in time and space known as the Doctor.
