Adding to the Doctor Who buzz around tonight’s Eurovision concert, the BBC has announced that Catherine Tate will deliver the results for the UK’s round of voting.

The actress, best known for playing Donna Noble opposite David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor, will be delivering the results of the UK’s National Jury, live from the Liverpool Arena at the end of the televoting window during the Grand Final this evening (Saturday 13th May 2023).

Catherine says:

“It’s very exciting to be announcing the iconic ‘douze points’ at Eurovision. It’s just a foot in the door really as next year I hope to be the UK entrant!”

For the first time ever, the UK spokesperson will announce the National Jury scores live from the very same arena where the actual contest is taking place in the UK.

So why is Catherine being part of Eurovision potentially important to Doctor Who fans? Apart from the fact we’re always happy to see Tate getting the spotlight, there are a lot of rumours that a new trailer for the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials will screen either after or, more likely, before the event. And this ties into that theory, given that Donna Noble will be seen again in the anniversary episodes, this time with Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor!

The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final airs tonight (13th May) from 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
