First Draft Script for Doctor Who Series 8 Episode, Mummy on the Orient Express, Released

I’ve always wanted to read the script for Mummy on the Orient Express, as it happens to be my favourite Series 8 episode. And now, it’s a Whovian’s dream come true. Writer, Jamie Mathieson has released the first draft script on his website.

The episode features the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) boarding an intergalactic train modelled after the Orient Express, only to find it being haunted by the Foretold – the titular Mummy. The story also stars comedian Frank Skinner as chief engineer Perkins, as he teams up with the Doctor to prevent the Foretold from killing more passengers.

Vastly different from the final cut, you can read more about it in Mathieson’s introduction before downloading the script. And if you’re thirsty for more Doctor Who scripts, there’s also the shooting script for the Series 10 episode Oxygen, also written by Mathieson and starring Capaldi (alongside Pearl Mackie as Bill Potts and Matt Lucas as Nardole) on the BBC Writers’ Room, plus extra Doctor Who content on his website — from blog posts to deleted scenes.
