The two 1960s Peter Cushing Doctor Who movies, Dr Who and the Daleks and Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150AD, are to be released on 4K UHD Collector’s Edition Blu-rays, steelbooks, and digital platforms this summer.
Released initially in 1965 and 1966 respectively and directed by Gordon Flemyng, these two films, shot in glorious Technicolor, feature Cushing as an alternative First Doctor with a supporting cast including Bernard Cribbins, Roberta Tovey, Roy Castle, and Jennie Linden.
Dr Who and the Daleks will be released on 20th June and Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150AD on 18th July 2022.
Both will sport snazzy new art, designed by Johnny Dombrowski, with the steelbook versions also available in bigger 4K UHD Collector’s Edition packs comprising:
- The films in UHD and on Blu-ray for those without a 4K player.
- 42-page booklet with brand new essays.
- Exclusive 32-page Titan mini-book.
- Collectable coin.
- 5 artcards.
- 2 Posters of both the new and original artworks.
Studio Canal has released an exciting trailer too.
BFI Southbank will also screen both films back-to-back on 19th June in 4k, with a special guest Q&A including cast members Roberta Tovey and Jill Curzon as well as Anthony Waye (the assistant director of both films), and Jason Flemyng, son of the films’ director, Gordon Flemyng. The Q&A will take place after Dr Who and the Daleks has screened and will cover both films. Tickets will be available to BFI Members from 3rd May and to the general public from 5th May.
