The BBC has released the first full trailer for the Doctor Who Easter special, Legend of the Sea Devils, featuring Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor.

Feast your eyes…

WAS THAT THE MYRKA?!

Ahem. Sorry about that. Just comes over me sometimes.

In addition to seeing more Sea Devil action, we get the confirmation of its airdate: Easter Sunday itself, 17th April 2022, i.e. in two weeks’ time! Wait, I need to buy some chocolate eggs.

The Doctor is joined again by Dan Lewis (John Bishop), dressed as a pirate (because why not?), and Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill), in a stunning outfit — as is the Doctor herself. Plus we meet Madame Ching (Crystal Yu), the fearsome Pirate Queen. Does she wake the Sea Devils, thinking they’ll be her allies? We know how that sort of story normally goes.

This will be Jodie Whittaker’s penultimate story as the Doctor, written by Chris Chibnall and Ella Road.

What do you think, DWC readers? This looks like a fun adventure to me, and it’ll be interesting to see how they portray Ching, one of the most successful women from that period of history, albeit successful in less-than-desirable “industries” (and not exactly suitable for family viewing). Nonetheless, we’re sure they’ll skip over the, uh, world’s oldest trade, as they say…

Still: hooray for Sea Devils in 2022!
