Producer, Matt Strevens, has promised Jodie Whittaker’s last story as the Thirteenth Doctor is a “massive, feature-length epic”.

The as-yet-unnamed episode, which is expected to air in the autumn, is also the final story with Chris Chibnall as showrunner, and Strevens’ last as producer. The two came on board the show with Whittaker for Series 11, which screened in 2018.

Strevens said:

“The final story is a massive, feature-length epic – it was huge to shoot – with lots of surprises for fans of all ages. Jodie gets a really good send-off. I think it will push everybody’s buttons.

“And the fact the BBC asked us for it to be part of their centenary celebrations – I think that just underlines the iconic nature of the show.”

Right now, the story is known as the BBC Centenary Special, but we expect to learn the actual title at the conclusion of the Easter special, Legends of the Sea Devils.

We don’t know much about the Thirteenth Doctor’s swansong, except that Whittaker will be alongside Mandip Gill as Yasmin Khan and John Bishop as Dan Lewis.

There are, of course, plenty of rumours that some of the plot strands from across Whittaker’s three series will be tied up, including the Fugitive Doctor storyline (and the Timeless Child arc), and potentially UNIT and the Master, the latter last seen in 2020’s Ascension of the Cybermen/ The Timeless Children, played by Sacha Dhawan.
