Every Monday for the past 13 weeks, a new story (or episode from a box set collection) has been made available to download exclusively from Big Finish, but all good things come to an end. Fortunately, the end has been prepared for.
So yes, the #lockdownloads project (a result of the COVID-19 lockdown) comes to an end this week with Doctor Who: Robophobia – Part One; but there will be a new programme of free downloads announced in the coming weeks!
Before we come to that, let’s shine a light on Robophobia. Starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor, and introducing Nicola Walker as Liv Chenka, Robophobia was originally released in July 2011 and is a sequel to The Robots of Death. Here’s the synopsis:
Nothing has ever been officially confirmed, but there is a rumour that on a Sandminer bound for Kaldor City, the robots somehow turned homicidal and nearly wiped out the entire crew. Can that really be true?
The robot transport ship Lorelei has a cargo of over a hundred fifty-seven thousand robots on board, all deactivated. So even if there were any truth in the rumour of that massacre, there’d still be no danger. Surely, there wouldn’t…
But then, the Doctor witnesses a murder.
This download will be available for one week only, and comes accompanied by a special discount offer on related titles. For a limited time, Big Finish listeners can also download the complete Robophobia for 50% off, at the Weekly Deals page.
Additionally, the bundle price of the Seventh Doctor Doctor Who: Monthly Adventures #133- 164 is now available for half price at just £52.50 when bought together.
All these download discounts will expire at 23:59 (BST) on 5th July 2020.
We wait to hear more about Big Finish’s new download project…
