The Doctor Who Series 5 soundtrack will finally be released on vinyl, setting a promising precedent for future sets featuring the Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors.
With Murray Gold working as composer for Ncuti Gatwa’s era as the Fifteenth Doctor, it appears that the BBC is finally revising its decision not to continue releasing his previous soundtracks on vinyl. Hopefully this means we’ll get to enjoy vinyl versions of Series 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and the specials Gold composed for; and perhaps we’ll finally get a CD version of Series 10 too!
Series 5 is the first season with Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, and introduces one of Gold’s most iconic and best-loved tunes, I Am the Doctor. The season was also the first with Steven Moffat as showrunner, Karen Gillan’s as Amy Pond, and Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams.
This vinyl is listed as being a “Blue/Violet Diamond Anniversary Edition”. We’re yet to learn its release date or RRP.
The music presented here accompanied The Eleventh Hour, The Beast Below, Victory of the Daleks, The Time of Angels/ Flesh and Stone, The Vampires of Venice, Amy’s Choice, The Hungry Earth/ Cold Blood, Vincent and the Doctor, The Lodger, and The Pandorica Opens/ The Big Bang.
