Doctor Who: The Collection Continues with Season 22, Colin Baker’s First Full Series

The Doctor Who: The Collection Blu-ray sets will continue later this year with Season 22, the first full series starring the Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) and companion Peri Brown (Nicola Bryant).

Plus, of course, we get to enjoy the return of the Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) and Jamie McCrimmon (Frazer Hines) in The Two Doctors!

The episodes included are:

  • Attack Of The Cybermen
  • Vengeance On Varos
  • The Mark Of The Rani
  • The Two Doctors
  • Timelash
  • Revelation Of The Daleks

So: Daleks. Cybermen. Davros. Sontarans. The Master. The Rani. Sil. And another version of the Loch Ness Monster. Not bad at all…

And the eagle-eyed among you will have noticed the absence of The Twin Dilemma, Colin’s debut as the Doctor, seemingly confirming that it’ll rightly take its place in the Season 21 boxset (whenever that comes out).

Enjoy Bryant’s comeback as Peri in the announcement trailer too, written by Pete McTighe (Kerblam!).

With all episodes newly remastered from the best available sources, this Blu-ray box set also contains extensive and exclusive Special Features including:

The eight-disc box set also includes hours of special features previously released on DVD.

A Fix with Sontarans is a surprise inclusion, seeing as it features Jimmy Savile (hailing as it does from his show, Jim’ll Fix It). We feel mixed about this — as completists, it’ll be good to see more of the Sixth Doctor alongside Janet Fileding as Tegan Jovanka, and we can’t forget or revise the past. Plus, it must’ve been a great day for Gareth Jenkins, who wanted to meet the Doctor and travel in the TARDIS back in 1985. Nonetheless, it will make many feel uncomfortable. Then again, you don’t have to watch it if you do feel awkward doing so.

Similarly, we don’t know whether the bits with Savile will have been edited out. Let’s wait and see what comes of it.

Doctor Who: The Collection – Season 22 will be released later this year, with a £44.99 RRP.
